The
house itself has been built together with a second house, which
were at once two separate homes. It looks like it’s a house
from the III Century although their Age is uncertain. The top part
of it belongs from 6 generations old to the Sauvaire Family. In
the old days they use to live in the highest street of the village
although their home was far to expose to the Mistral so they decided
to move to here instead as it was much protected against the wind.
Marie Sauvaire, the last descendant that lived in the house married
a young man from Entrevaux, Pierre Vernoux. They had 6 children
of which from the first 5 of them one named Antonia where born in
the house. Antonia married a young man from Piamonte, Joseph Luciano
and although the majority of their lives they lived in Grasse, they
kept their house as a secondary home.
The bottom part of the house orientated to the south belonged to
Marie Henri. As she didn’t married or had any children she
gave her home to Antonia, her best friend. On the outside of the
house you can appreciate on the front wall a curious sculptured
lintel. |
